Dan Cross – Head Coach

Originally from Winchester, Dan started his swimming career at the young age of 8, during the height of his competitive carer he competed up to National Level (mainly in backstroke).  Graduating from Worcester University with a degree in Sports and Exercise, specialising in strength and conditioning Dan continued to swim for the university team, which is where he began his coaching career.  Dan has worked with many Olympic swim coaches in Florida, California as well as in the UK. Dan joined Thanet Swim Club in 2014 as Head Coach, having previously worked as an assistant coach with Guildford Swimming Club. Dan is a Level 3 coach and was chosen to coach with Team GB at the Breaststroke post World Championships camp in 2015.  He has also been selected into the England coach 2024 programme.

Arthur Lawlor
LAWLOR Arthur (2017-09-23)
Arthur has provided support to Thanet Swim Club for a number of years. During his time at Southampton Solent University he coached the City of Southampton Swimming Club’s Junior Squad and graduated with a degree in Sports Coaching. Arthur is a Level 2 Swim Coach as well as a Strength & Conditioning coach.

Jordan has swam with the club since he was 6 years old.

Development Squad

Sue Jones – Lead Coach
Sue JonesSue has lead the delivery of teaching technique improvement to the club’s non-competitive swimmers since 2014.  A keen swimmer herself, Sue has been a Master’s swimmer since 1997 and has represented Thanet at the East Invicta Masters Championships. Sue is Level 2 Teaching Aquatics qualified and also teaches with the Your Leisure Swim School.

Stephanie Groombridge
Stephanie supports Sue in teaching our non competitive swimmers. Stephanie is Level 2 Teaching Aquatics qualified and also teaches with the Your Leisure Swim School.

Sue is Level 2 Teaching Aquatics qualified.

Academy Squad

Kim Latham – Lead Coach
LATHAM-Kim (2016-09-11)
Kim joined Thanet Swim Club in 2011 (having previously coached at all levels at Dover Lifeguards Club).  Kim is Lead Coach for the club’s Academy Squad.  Kim is Level 2 Coaching and Level 2 Teaching Aquatics qualified. Kim’s twin daughters swim with the club – Katie represented GB Juniors in 2013.

21340383244_5e4bb2842e_kJohn dedicated his life to coaching swimming since his youngest daughter joined Margate Swimming Club at the age of 6.  Over his extensive career spanning 43 years of coaching swimming, John worked for Margate Swimming Club, Herne Bay Swimming Club and has been with Thanet Swim Club since its formation.
