Congratulations to Sam Crabtree

Sam Crabtree (14) of Thanet Swim Club swam the Henley Classic 2.1km upstream swim in the Thames at 04:30 last Sunday

Sam won the GOLD medal in the Junior category, came third in the Performance wave and 19th overall in a time of 30mins and 47seconds.  Sam was the first swimmer to finish without a wetsuit, the water temperature was 18 degrees but heavy rain the day before led to a strong cold current making the swim even tougher than usual.  Around 900 swimmers competed, including 15 Elite swimmers and Olympian Adrian Moorehouse who was celebrating his 50th birthday by doing the swim, Sam beat his time by 5 mins!
