County Qualifier Meet

A big thank you to all our officials and volunteers, in particular our referees Ian Howes and Colin Fitt.

Well done, to all the swimmers – some impressive times. How impressive? Well 113 PBs, 35 new Kent QTs, 9 improved Kent QTs and 6 Club Records. Now that’s what I call a succesful gala.

Remember, entries for Kents must be in by Monday night

Just a reminder that the County Qualifier on Wednesday is a 5.30pm warm-up for a 5.50pm start.

Olympic Training Camp

27 swimmers from across Junior and Senior squad took part in an Olympic Training Weekend at Kingsmead Leisure Centre coached by Mel Marshall.

Mel represented Team GB in the Olympic Games at both Athens 2004 and Bejing 2008. Mel was ranked number 1 in the world in 2004 after breaking the British 200m freestyle record. Mel then went on to claim six medals at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, the most decorated female athlete ever at one Games for England, in any sport and ended her swimming career at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

Mel is now the Head Coach of City of Derby and has just completed a 494km cycle ride across Zambia with Becky Adlington, Jo Jackson and Ross Davenport to raise money for Sport in Action.
