Open Water Activity Day

Following the great success of the open water taster day on 30th June, the Dive Centre centre at Holborough Lakes have offered us an Activity Day at the lake on Tuesday 31st July.  We can do some swimming at the lake and relays like we did before, plus they have offered us some inflatable kayaks to have a bit of fun with, some snorkels and masks so you can see what’s swimming underneath you (maybe not such a good idea!) and for anyone interested in life saving, they will show us some line throwing and rescue techniques.  Most of all though, the day is about just having fun!

Anyone that did not come on the open water taster day will have to do a short swimming assessment on the day to satisfy the Dive Centre’s insurance criteria but it just consists of a short safety briefing and a 200m swim – well within everyone’s capabilities!  There is a charge for this of £15 on the day but once completed you will receive a membership card and are welcome to swim there at any time.  Those that did the open water taster day WILL NOT have to do this again but must bring their membership cards on the day.

This is open to all squads – the centre are happy for younger swimmers to take part as long as they can pass the water assessment.  It is also open to parents who may want to have a dip but again, as long as they pass the assessment!

We anticipate a small charge of £5 per person for the day but we are still waiting for the Dive centre to confirm this and will let you know.  Please email Alison Allen by return if you would be interested in coming along for the day so that she can get an idea of numbers to see if this is viable.
