Thanet Swim Club triumph at Thanet Sports Awards

At the Thanet Sports Award held at the Winter Gardens and presented by Academy DJ Johnny Lewis, Thanet Swim Club once again scooped up a number of awards.

Aaron Clements collected Sportsman of the Year with Ben Pond highly commended. Thanet Swim Club also picked up top honours for Team of Year and only just missed out on Club of Year to Thanet Athletics Club.

In the last 4 years, Thanet Swim Club has now won Club of the year twice and been highly commended twice.

The gold medal 4x 200m Freestyle Team of Harry Bradford, Ben Evans, Jamie O’Connor and Alexander Wilmshurst were highly commended in Young Team of the Year but with the Upton Junior Swimming Team picking up top prize. However, the Upton Junior Swimming Team included all Thanet Swimmers – Jack Baker, Alex Boyd, Alfie Bradford and Joshua Jones.

Also recognised on the night was Chelsea Jarman in the Unsung Hero category.

This event has grown considerably over the last couple of years and Jade Jones, Olympic Gold Medallist from London 2012, was also present to participate in an question and answer session.

Well done, to all our winners
