Thanet Swim Club

Thank you to everyone involved with our successful return to the pool this month, from the parents, swimmers, coaches, committee, Your Leisure (Pool operator) through to our squad volunteer Social Distancing reps.

Following this successful trial, from Monday the 31st August, we will be moving to stage 2 of our return, which incorporates the use of Ramsgate Leisure Centre. However, the guidance from Swim England hasn’t changed, so we will be maintaining all of the safety protocols implemented at Hartsdown.

For Ramsgate, we will be entering through the side doors, direct onto poolside, where swimmers will continue social distancing and in their allocated spots “being beach ready” place their bags and then proceed to their allocated lanes. At the end of the sessions, they will proceed to the changing village and exit through the front of the building (main reception)

There will be a slight protocol change once schools return in September so that at the end of early morning sessions, swimmer will be allowed a quick shower prior to attending school. All other sessions, swimmer are required to be out of the changing rooms within 10 minutes.

Re-alignment of squad progressions

With the ability to get close to what will be a “new norm” in terms of swimming and pool time, the club has undertaken slight changes in squad structure, so that swimmers have the ability to progress and receive stepped increases in pooltime. This change also impacts the squad names moving forward, such as:-
