Charity Swimathon

On Sunday 17th July (2pm – 5pm), the club will be hosting, one of our sponsors, McDonalds swimathon.

In its 2nd year, the swimathon is taking place to raise funds for two great charities:-

  • Ronald McDonald House Charity

Ronald McDonald house charity provides free “home away from home” accommodation to families while their children are in hospital. See http://www.rmhc.org.uk for more details

  • Swim for all in Thanet

Swim for all provides support to families coping with financial hardship, assisting them to access swim teaching and coaching for their children.

As part of the event, we have a number of swimmers to represent the club. During the event, these swimmers will be swimming 100m at a time to give the McDonalds employees some rest. Each club swimmer will be provided with a voucher for a free McDonalds meal.

Summer shutdown

The club will be having its Summer shutdown during the first 2 weeks of August.

Last sessions will be 31st July 2016.

Returning to training on 16th August. (Please see August training schedule, as there is some restricted session planning)

15th Anniversary Presentation evening

This year we will be celebrating the clubs 15th anniversary. As such we are holding the presentation evening at Discovery Park event centre, where the capacity is big enough to accommodate the club (although space may still be limited).

We have also been able to negotiate the special guest, presenting the awards, who will be Mark Foster. 

A multiple world record holder and world champion, Mark is well known in the swimming and more recently celebrity TV  shows.
