Reservations: This is becoming an increasingly popular event, and as entry numbers are strictly limited, they will be allocated on a ‘first-paid-first-served‘ basis, reserve a provisional place for your swimmer/s by emailing karen@crabtree.com stating:
name of swimmer, date of birth, squad, and any 800 / 1500m time if they have one.  Places will only be confirmed once payment received – places not paid for by Friday 9th August will be offered to swimmers on the waiting list.  Payments should be made via cash in an envelope addressed to Karen Crabtree and posted in the club letterbox at Hartsdown.

Venue:  Action Watersports, Lydd, Kent near Dungeness [LINK]
This event is deliberately later in the season, when the water is a bit warmer for younger swimmers. Swimmers new to open water will have an open water induction and safety assessment and a trial 200m swim alongside our experienced open water swimmers to calm any nerves.

The Club Champs aspect of the day will consist of ‘Nationals’ distance ‘Time-Trials’ – recommended distances below are aligned with distances swimmers ought to race for the 2020 season (Age at EoY 2019 for 2020 preparation) – or swim as far as you like.
10-11 years: 1km  |  12-13 years: 2km  |  14-15 years: 3km  |  16+ years: 5km
(Siblings only 8-9 years – 1 ‘mini taster’ lap  = 200m)

The ‘Fun Day’ aspect of the day will include fun relays, stand-up paddle boarding and then an hour’s full-on AQUASPLASH inflatable fun (see slides above) and a ‘bring your own’ BBQ from around 5-6pm.
Races £10, shared use of Stand-up paddle boards £10, AQUASPLASH 1 Hour £16
Racers will get priority on the SUPs & AquaSplash – IF there are any spaces left then siblings and parents may join in the AquaSplash too at £16 per person.

Timings (TBC): Induction briefing and safety swims planned to commence from 12:30 (aim to arrive at 11:30-12:00).  Aquasplash will be at 4pm.  All swimmers must be out of the water by 5pm.  A parent or guardian must remain on site for the duration of the session. Facilities on site include hot and cold drinks via ‘honesty box’. You will need to bring a full picnic.
