New squad times

As from Monday the new squads times (pool and land training) will be as attached.

Adam Whitehead Clinic – tomorrow!

Please note the Adam Whitehead registration is 8.30am.

The itinerary for the day is as follows:-

Registration        8.30am

Introduction        8.45am

1st session           9.15am – 10.45am (group A pool, group B land)

2nd session          11.00am – 12.30pm (group B pool, group A land)

Lunch                  12.30pm – 1.30pm

Talk                      1.30pm – 2.00pm

3rd session            2.15pm – 3.30pm (group A pool, group B land)

4th session            3.30pm – 4.45pm (group B pool, group A land)

Closing talk          5.00pm – 5.30pm

Characteristics of Champions

Open Water Club Champs

Plans for the Open Water Club Champs are outlined below, detailed information provided in the attachment.

Please note that this event is NOT licenced.

Please arrive at Holborough Lake at 13:00hrs

Entrance Fee (to be paid on the day):

New swimmers £15 to cover the cost of the Nemes safety induction swim.

Nemes card holders £5 Entrance Fee.

Race Fee (to be paid on the day):

Race Options:

Open Water (OW) is about swimming a distance that will stretch our swimmers (but not exhaust them); swimmers should select ONE event from the list below, taking into account their OW experience and age recommendations:

400m (recommended 10 and under)

800m (recommended 10-12)

1600m (recommended 12+)

2000m (recommended for 13+ only)

Awards:

Age is ‘Age on Day’.

Awards will be presented to the first three male and first three female swimmers in each age to complete each distance (to be presented at Presentation Night on Friday 7th November).

Distance achievement awards will be presented to all remaining swimmers completing their chosen distance.

The 1st placed male and 1st placed female overall in the 2km event will be awarded the Chloe McCardel Cup.

Other OW activities

Once the formal races are complete, we hope to have some fun time comprising sprints and relays – these will be decided upon on the day, taking into account numbers / ability / ages of swimmers in attendance.

I note that, at present, the weather report is not looking too great for Friday.  Those of you that have been to the lake will know that there is practically no shelter, and an event in the rain would not be enjoyable.  I will look at the weather report on Thursday evening and Friday morning.  If we decide to cancel I will text you directly before 09:30.
