Oh what a night!
The preparations for the Round 2 of the Arena League on paper didn’t look the best with part of the Team having spent the week in Snowdonia and only arrived back on Saturday at 5pm after a 7 hour coach trip. Not to mention the virus that seemed to affect many of the Senior Squad that remained in Thanet.
But clearly these preparations plus a night of heavy ‘disco’ dancing the night before at the Club Presentation Evening is exactly the sort of preparation that we need in future!
Because this was “probably our best team performance of 2012.”
Seeded 4th going into this gala behind Rushmoor Royals, Amersham and Brackenell & Wokingham, 4th would have been a good result.
And yet it was clear from the outset that this was going to be a special night. Indeed after race 40 we were only 8 points behind joint leaders Rushmoor and Amersham!
In the end we finished an amazing 3rd place with 206 points; that’s 37 more points than Round 1. What was most gratifying was the consistency of the results with 12 first places and 13 second places; in fact out 11u dominated their age group bagging 8 of those first places.
So I think that puts us in the second pool for Round 3 with Sevenoaks, Windsor, Bracknell and Wokingham, Woking and Epsom with Thanet seeded 3rd.
