Maisie – 4th in the WORLD!

Maisie Macartney represented GB at the World Junior Open Water Championships in Eilat, Israel on Thursday 6th September.  Maisie completed the gruelling 7.5km race in FOURTH place, having battled throughout in the leading pack with US, Italian and Spanish swimmers.  Maisie’s tough training regime throughout the summer certainly paid off, she was in the mix right from the start, with places changing throughout the race, she even took a stint in the lead. Maisie’s finish time was 1 hour and 33 minutes, and at the end, just 1.7 seconds separated 2nd to 4th places.Maisie 15 - Places 4th

Maisie: WORLD Open Water Champs!

The club would like to wish Maisie GOOD LUCK at the WORLD open water championships in Eilat, Israel over the 7th-9th September.  This is Maisie’s 3rd consecutive summer racing with the GB junior open water team – she’s going from strength to strength.
Maisie recently competed at the European Juniotr Open Water Championship and finished her race in 10th place.  She also won the Great Scottish Swim Women’s Elite race.

After Round 1, our Division 1 A-team is in 2nd place (with 244 pts) to Sevenoaks (who have 261 
pts).  Our B-team in Division 2, is currently in 9th place (with 184 pts).

British Summer Championships

Congratulations to our team of 15 swimmers that travelled to Sheffield to compete at the British Summer Championships (this equals our biggest team as per last year). Over the 6-day competition the team raced in 38 heats swims and made 22 finals (incl HDW 1-10 places).  Four swimmers won a total of 7 medals. 15 races (39%) delivered PBs.
