This year we had a team of 16 swimmers competing in the SE Summer Nationals. Over the 5-day competition the team participated in 33 heats swims and made 25 finals (incl HDW 1-10 places). 10 swimmers won a total of 12 medals. 19 races (58%) delivered PBs. An unofficial analysis of podium places puts Thanet Swim at the top of the English Nationals medal table!

This year we had our biggest ever team of eight swimmers competing at the National Open Water Championships. In the 5km race, Maisie Macartney won GOLD, Oscar Macartney came 7th and Lily Jewell came 14th. In the 3km race, Maddy Lay came 13th and Ben Millington finished 17th. In the 2km race, William Reeves came 13th, Alana Wright placed 15th, and Ollie Pope finished in 32nd place.

Well done to to Nicole Palmer-Jones and Luke Fowle on their races at the Welsh National Championships this summer. Nicole won BRONZE in the 800 Free and came 5th in the 1500 Free. She made the final in the 100 Fly coming 7th with a PB and also placed 13th in the 400 Free. Luke competed in the 100 Fly and came 4th in the final with a PB.

The clubs newly formed social committee are pleased to announce the next social event for the whole club (members and family). Like the “Tough Swimmer” event, It’s a Wipeout is a fun family event focusing on team work. There is no age restriction, so open all abilities and ages. The event includes fun activities and a BBQ, which has been subsidised to only £3 per person. If you do not want to take part in the activities, registration is still expected.
