Thanet Swim Club

The first weekend of Kents at Crystal Palace saw our distance swimmers showing what they’ve got.  We had 36 swimmers in 71 races,  63 of which placed top 8.  All in, the team won 13 Gold, 9 Silver and 12 Bronze ‘age group’ medals.  A fantastic 58% of races returned LC PBs!  What a great start to the long course season!

Massive congratulations to our team of four swimmers that represented Swim England South East at the Flanders Cup in Antwerp during the weekend of the 20/21st January.  They had some great results, highlights include:
Maisie Macartney won a SILVER medal in the 1500 Free on her first ever race at that distance, she also came 4th in 800Free, 6th in 400Free and 16th in 200Free.
Daisy Anderson also won a SILVER medal in the 400IM (with a 7s LCPB!) she also came 5th in the 200IM (with a 1.3 S LCPB) and 7th in the 200Fly!
Jamie O’Connor won his 400Free B-Final (finishing in the 4th fastest time across all finals!) he also came 8th in the 200Free.
Katie Latham also made A & B Finals placing 5th in 50Free and 15th in 100Free.
Our Head Coach Dan Cross also attended as support coach for the SE team.

Massive CONGRATULATIONS to our Club Chairman Wendy Boyd on passing all aspects of her Referee exams!  To pass first time on top of all the other work she does for the club whilst working full time is a tremendous achievement.

This year the club has four swimmers joining the the South East Region International Camp.  The overall team includes 24 swimmers from across the SE.  They will be racing at the Flanders Cup in Belgium over the weekend of 20/21st January.  Our swimmers secured these places by winning Open events at the SE Region Winter Championships in November.  Our Head Coach, Dan Cross will also be joining the team to provide coaching support.  Good Luck Katie, Jamie, Maisie, Daisy and Dan!
