Maisie selected for the WORLD Junior Open Water Champs!

Massive CONGRATULATIONS to Maisie Macartney on her selection to represent GB at the WORLD Junior Open Water Champs in Israel in September.  Maisie’s selection was based on her sterling performance in the 7.5km race at the European Junior Open Water Champs in Malta on the 13th July.  During this race Maisie battled through multiple jelly fish stings to the face to maintain a place in the leading pack. With only 800m to go she was subject to a fierce kick in the head which resulted in a brave 10th place finish.  Maisie was also scheduled to swim in the 19/U mixed relay, but the race was cancelled due to high winds causing unsafe racing conditions.  This is Maisie’s 3rd consecutive summer racing with the GB junior open water team – she’s going from strength to strength.

Daisy & Dan – European Junior Champs

Well done to Daisy Anderson and Coach Dan Cross who travelled to Helskini in Finland for the European Junior Swimming Championships over the 4-8th July.  Daisy raced in both the 400m and 200m Individual Medley events races and placed 16th and 39th in Europe respectively!  This was a great learning experience for Daisy.  This event was Dan’s first selection for a GB coaching team placement.2018-07-04 Euro Jnr Champs (Daisy & Dan)

Club Summer Break (& ‘rejoining’ issue)

This year our two week break is from 6th – 19th August (inclusive).
Club fees are based on 46 weeks of swimming out of 52 weeks of the year.
This allows for the 2 week break in August, some disruption to session times over the Christmas and Easter break and for some sessions being cancelled due to galas.
Fees are then spread evenly over 12 equal monthly payments.
Fees must be paid consistently to cover coaching pay, etc. during our down periods.

Due to to a small number of parents giving notice to quit in July and August, then planning to re-join in September, we will be implementing a £75 re-joining fee per swimmer – the swimmer/s will not be allowed to rejoin training until the fee is paid.
The re-joining fee will be applied to any swimmer who ‘leaves’ in the months of Jul/Aug and returns in Sep/Oct and is applicable across all squads.
