Thanet Separated Medley

Thank you to all the volunteers that helped and also all the clubs that supported this event to make a great climax to the domestic gala season.

With a bye-line ‘Splash for Cash’ a number of our swimmers were certainly in the money:

Rowan Fuss and Adam Mitchell in the 9-year-old age group

Maisie Macartney, Beth Williams, Alexander Boyd and Thomas King in the 10-year-old age group

Chloe Parkinson, Robyn Moon and Jack Baker in the 11-year-old age group

Hannah Denny in the 12-year-old age group with Oscar Macartney, Louis Thomas and Joshua Lewis taking a clean sweep for the boys.

Kristyana Papa-Adams and Jordon Honour in the 13-year-old age group

Lauren Joy, Aaron Clements and Casey Harte in the 15 and over age group.

Also, well done to Maisie, Hannah, Lauren, Rowan, Jack, Oscar and Aaron who also picked up BAGCAT award by way of a voucher from Swim Supplies.

Rankings and Personal Bests

In a move to try and provide more up-to-date information regarding swimmers personal bests, these will now be published monthly by squad and then in alpabetical order i.e. you will now be able to find a swimmers PBs all in one place for all strokes.

However, we will endeavour to provide information regarding how swimmers rank against their club mates in each of the individual disciplines 4 times a year i.e. after East Invicta, Kent County Championship, South East Regionals and Nationals.

We recognise that the rankings have not been updated for some time but it does require significant more effort to produce and publish. However, rankings for the last 12 months from licensed meet can be always be found on the ASA website here. This can be filtered by stroke, gender, age group and club – it won’t include any time trials or times achieved at an unlicensed meet.

Both the Personal Bests and Rankings information can be found here.

Irish Nationals

Ben Pond was our sole representative at the Irish Nationals held at National Aquatic Centre in Dublin. Ben entered 6 finals and qualified for 5 finals but that only tells half the story.

Ben achieved 5 Long Course Personal Best, Club Records in both the 200m and 400m Freestyle; the 200m he broke it twice, once in the heats and then again in the final.

However, he kept the best to last in the 400m free when he turned in 3rd place on the final length but just couldn’t hold on and missed out on a podium position by 0.26 second.

None the less a great programme of events.
