SE Region Biathlon Championships

Congratulations to Ben Pond, Beth Williams and Lauren Joy.       

On a rather wet and cold Sunday at Tonbridge School 3 of our swimmers braved the elements to participate in the South East Region Biathlon Championships.

Lauren Joy swam a Personal Best in the 200m Freestyle in 2.13.81 to secure 6th place overall. Beth Williams from the Junior Squad won the run in convincing style and followed that up with 2nd place in the swim to secure top spot in her age group. However, Ben Pond dominated his age group by winning the run and the 200m Freestyle, the latter in 2.00.09 to also secure top spot.

All 3 Thanet Swimmers will now progress to the British Modern Biathlon Championships held at Birmingham in May. Hopefully, they will be joined by a few more swimmers that at competing at the National Schools Biathlon Final at Crystal Palace on the 25th March.

Spring Gala

Time to get your entries sorted out for the Spring Galas!

The club has published details of 4 galas simultanteously so that swimmers can plan their time and sessions accordingly.

The galas are:

1. Bracknell Long Course 800/1500
Gala Date is 31st March at Aldershot. Closing Date 11th March. Entries to Anthony Jones

2. Bexley Long Course
Gala Date is 14th & 15th April at Crystal Palace. Closing Date 19th March. Entries to Phil Cope

3a. Crawley Long Course
Gala Date is 21st & 22nd April at K2. Closing Date 25th March. Entries to Phil Cope

OR

3b. Black Lion Short Course
Gala Date is 21st & 22nd April at Medway Park. Closing Date 19th March. Entries to Anthony Jones

Crawley is aimed at Regional/National Swimmers and Black Lion is aimed at Junior Squad/County Swimmers. There will be coaching staff at both venues.

As there are back-to-back Long Course galas, swimmers should ensure that they swim a varied programme and not over commit on either weekend.

Please submit entries before the closing dates including the £1.50 Admin fee for each gala.

Entries should be posted in the letter box at Hartsdown or handed to Phil or Anthony as indicated.
