Tenerife -Day 6

A blistering hot day started as usual with the usual jog to the pool and an early swim session, with the younger group focusing on skills, however we got there before the pool was set up

Once back it was breakfast, before lounging around the pool and catching some rays.
Today a group of 10 took part in the aqua aerobics with many of the hotels older guests, however the music was not the conventional routine, with songs like YMCA and Nellie the Elephant. As you can imagine, Jordan was leading the Thanet brigade.

After lunch, back to the pool for our afternoon session, where the older group then got to be filmed in the flume.

Once back at the hotel and feed with dinner, the team then took part in the quiz night to win points for their respective teams.

Despite some close to home questions, even involving the clubs head coach as one of the answers, the swimmers didn’t smother themselves in glory.

Awards for today were:

Swimmer of the day – Honor Llewellyn (great attitude in training)

Wally of the day – Olivia Miles (forgetting to lock the toilet door on poolside)

Tenerife -Day 5

After 4 solid days, it was rest day!

Optional training session this morning, working on skills and then breakfast, before off to the water park for day of action packed fun.

The weather wasn’t kind, as we tasted our first wet day, but on the plus side the park was empty and it didn’t dampen the spirits.

Highlights of the day included, the group working as a team on the wave pool; the coach team beating the swimmers at the relay race; a great team spirit in enjoying the rides; a team chant copying Arthur’s laugh (same as Jimmy Carr) and Keiron Piper having to join a family to go down the four person slide, who couldn’t have been anymore opposite to him.

After the park it was back to the hotel for dinner, before the younger half enjoyed a wii Mario Cart racing challenge.

Prizes for the day went to:-

Swimmer of the day -Jordan Honour (great team spirit and leadership quality)

Wally of the day – Robyn Moon (falling out of her slide into Arthur as they were going down)

Tenerife – Day 4

It was back to the normal routine, with early training and a jog to the pool.

Morning session was a skill session, getting ready for the mammoth afternoon session.

After a big breakfast, downtime consisted of relaxing in their rooms or by the pool, where the hotel fashion show was on.

A light lunch, preceded the walk up to the pool. However during lunch Dan mentioned the new world record of a 16,000m I.M., which was under 4hrs.

By the time we got to the pool, the twins, Daisy and Rosie, plus Kieran had asked to give it a go.

They set off during the land warmup as we didn’t have the pool booked for length needed.

The others all had a killer, 5k free or 4K of I.M.’s.

After a two hour session, the younger half enjoyed an hour in the flume tank, for filming, whilst the older ones were off for a run. At this time the three trogons were just completing the backstroke.

The swimmers then were back to the hotel for dinner whilst the others completed the rest of the challenge.

Evening entertainment was a casino night playing for team points.

Unfortunately Jordans team went from first to last, as he bet 600 on his last spin of the roulette.

Tenerife -Day 3

With training in full swing, it was a day where sun burn and fatigue kicked in.

Starting early for a nice jog up to the pool

Before the real training started in the dark

Training over it was back to the hotel for a big breakfast and refuelling

During the downtime some enjoyed the hotel activities

Before another bite to eat at lunch and back up to the pool for a killer set.

A very hot day topped the tans up on the swimmers, with them now getting great goggle tan marks.

Dinner was a BBQ, where everyone enjoyed a great feast of ribs, steaks, chicken and sausages.

Due to fatigue the evening activities were postponed and early nights.

Today’s awards were:

Wally of the day – Arthur Lawlor (locking himself on a balcony)

Swimmer of the day -Jakob Goodman (all round great team skills)
